Rebecca Howell is a practicing artist and arts administrator with 15 years of programming experience. She has a passion for developing and engaging artistic communities. Her mission

is to advocate for and provide access to artistic experiences for people of all backgrounds and abilities, making the world a more creative place, one piece of artwork at a time.

Rebecca is both an abstract painter and involved with numerous community based art groups such as Urban Sketchers Delaware, the Newark Arts Alliance, Chris White Gallery, and the Ladies Art House collective. Rebecca earned her BFA at the Savannah College of Art and Design where she later oversaw sales in multiple galleries. Her work has been awarded funding through the Delaware Division of the Arts, and exhibited regionally including at The Delaware Contemporary and Rehoboth Art League. Rebecca has the pleasure of working with artists and innovators every day as the Manager of Studio Learning and Creative Engagement at the Delaware Art Museum.

Rebecca is particularly excited about the topics of art and health and loves it when people get their hands dirty! She had received various professional trainings on anti-discrimination, implicit bias, and trauma informed teaching. She completed training for Creative Aging classes with Lifetime Arts.

Creative Aging

The Joy of Drawing

8 weekly classes, 2 hours each class (last week is public exhibition of work)

Up to 12 students

$2300 (includes curriculum development, teaching, general use materials and art supplies that participants keep after class to encourage a creative practice)

Embrace your inner artist in a class that encourages experimentation and self-expression. Drawing is good for the brain too - it reduces stress, strengthens memory, and releases endorphins. No experience is necessary in this gentle introduction to various materials and unique approaches to drawing for the sake of joy. Materials used include pencil, charcoal, pen, ink, and watercolor and pastel.
