Atelier Fine Art Services is a full-service fine art services company with locations in New York, Philadelphia and Delaware, while continuing to expand to additional markets. Atelier’s clients include major art museums and cultural institutions, prominent private collections as well as national and international commercial fine art galleries.
Founded in 1986 Atelier has undergone extraordinary growth over the last twelve years. From a handful of employees, a single truck and one location in Philadelphia, the company currently operates out of four locations, owns a fleet of fifteen customized trucks and vehicles, and employs over ninety staff in the areas of client services, transportation logistics, operations, art handling and installation, registration and collection management, crate and exhibition furniture fabrication, fine art storage, and security.

The Assistant Manager at Atelier Delaware, is an integral member of the team responsible for the efficient operation of the Atelier Fine Art Services (“AFAS”) Storage Facility in Delaware (“ADE”). It is important to have a dedication to the Atelier culture of excellence in art stewardship, a clear understanding of tools and materials, awareness of museum best practices and standards, good hand skills, and the ability to work in a high-pressure environment while keeping a cool head.
Reports to: Assistant Director and Director of Atelier Delaware
Supervises: Atelier Delaware Storage Assistant(s)
Primary working relationships: Art Techs/Handlers, Client Services, Registrars, Logistics Director, Director of Security, Atelier General Contractor.
General Maintenance. With the Assistant Director, maintain the ADE facility, including but not limited to: inspections of the facility; overall upkeep; oversee and perform expansion construction; install and configure racking and cage units as needed; supply organization and inventory
Security. Open and close the facility; monitor security systems; chaperone guests and vendors; escort and monitor contractors working on-site
HVAC. Monitor and maintain HVAC units; track climate control data; install and monitor HVAC data loggers as needed.
SHIPMENTS: maintain calendar of incoming and outgoing shipments, assist with loading and unloading trucks; monitor and update digital BoLs as needed; process and file shipment paperwork.
COLLECTION MANAGEMENT: maintain AFAS high standards of care for property in storage at ADE, including but not limited to: conduct periodic inventory audits; consolidate and reorganize property as needed for efficient use of space, safety and ease of locating property; update location changes for property moved to/from/within ADE, using Zoho Creator desktop and/or iOS apps, maintain tight accuracy in the Zoho Art Storage Database.
ART HANDLING: provide in-house art handling and packing for storage-related projects, including: install or stage works of art in the viewing room or gallery; unpack/repack works in storage as requested by clients; accompany/assist conservators, photographers, appraisers, framers, and other fine art service providers; perform and process condition reports.
CLIENT RELATIONS: assist Client Services staff and clients as needed by answering email and phone enquiries, conducting tours, in a professional manner.
BA or BFA in Fine Art, Art History, Museum Studies or related fields.
At least three years of demonstrated art-handling or related experience; familiarity with
museum standards and best industry practices related to storage methods and materials. Warehousing / Storage facility experience is a plus.
Meticulous work habits and attention to detail; excellent time management and organizational skills.
Demonstrated self-starter with the ability to work independently and as a productive team member.
Familiarity with general office computer programs (e.g. MS Office, Google Workspace); competency using Zoho suite of programs preferred but not required.
Demonstrated mastery of digital Bills of Lading (BoLs)
Demonstrated proficiency with condition reporting.
Must have own vehicle and a valid driver’s license to run occasional local errands.
