The Milford Museum was established in 1983 in the original Post Office building in downtown Milford. It is located at 121 South Walnut Street. The structure is owned by the State's Division of Historical & Cultural Affairs, and operated by a Commission of the City of Milford. State historic restoration money was used to build a new handicapped access ramp, resurface the parking lot, fix the roof leaks, and upgrade the security and fire systems. Staff used this opportunity to repaint interior galleries, improve signage, and change exhibits. Additional items were moved from storage to display cases. The Museum's Mission is to promote the history of Milford, her surrounding communities, and general Delaware history through exhibits and special programs. The building contains several permanent and changing exhibit galleries, plus a research library of Delaware publications.
The Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00am - 3:30pm. We are closed on Sunday, Monday and Major Holidays.
Admission is free, but donations are always appreciated. We encourage young and old, school groups and civic organizations to visit and enjoy learning about Milford's history. The building is handicapped accessible.
